KELDA GUZMAN BVetMed MRCVS - VETERINARY SURGEON

Covered in blood whilst holding a gashed pony’s fetlock up for the vet to stitch, I decided that veterinary was definitely the job for me. I graduated from the University of London alongside Fiona (in July 2000) and worked in a mixed practice for a couple of years before moving into small animal practice. I arrived in Goring in April 2006 and couldn’t be happier. I have a rescue collie cross called Hobbes, he’s quite elderly but remains convinced he’s a puppy with the consequent joie de vivre and twinkle in his eye.

KATE NEBEL BA (hons)  RVN -  VETERINARY NURSE

I worked at Burghfield Veterinary Surgery for just over 3 years where I trained as a Veterinary Nurse and qualified in 2008.  I moved to the Goring Surgery in January 2009 and hope to specialise in animal physiotherapy.  I've always loved animals and been interested in their welfare, so a career working with animals just seemed to make sense!  I love the interaction you get with animals and working in situations that can be challenging and dynamic.  I have a cat called Jinks who came in to the Burghfield Surgery as a stray and she's now a fully established lap cat!

Outside of work I enjoy keeping fit; I completed the Great North Run in 2008 and raised £1000 for the Animal Care Trust.  I also like to travel, whilst I was in New Zealand I helped with a neuter and release scheme for local feral cat colonies which was really rewarding.  I'd love to do conservation work abroad using the skills I've learnt and be involved with the care of animals and educating others about animal welfare.

EMMA ROCKER RVN - VETERINARY NURSE

I am Head Nurse at Goring and have been working here since July 2005 (and loving it!) For as
long as I remember, I have loved all animals. My first love was horses and I began my training at an equine practice although now I find “small furries” easier to work with and sport fewer hoof-shaped bruises! I keep horses as my hobby and enjoy other animals at work. I also have two rescue cats of my own (we are all suckers for a stray) called Smarty-pants and Marmite. They demand all of my attention once I have changed from my seemingly offensive uniform and rid of any other animals’ scent. I also own a lesser spotted husband who says that he needs to BE rescued!

ROS ALLEN VN - VETERINARY NURSE

I qualified as a veterinary nurse many years ago. I have worked with dogs, cats, dairy cows and horses all my life. One of the features of my job which I particularly enjoy is helping clients with basic behavioural and practical aspects of pet ownership. I have two dogs: a German Shepherd called Ellie and a Saluki called Womble, both rescue dogs, they come from vastly different backgrounds. I also have five cats (Dude, Kissy, Flopsy, Mopsy and Blobby) and run a Kitten Academy. This really means I take on unfortunate and unwanted kittens and provide them with a finishing school from where they can go out into the world as confident and happy cats
