We are a small animal practice in Reading, first established as part of the Nine Mile Veterinary Group set up in 1985. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at our surgeries.
Jess joined the team at Burghfield vets in February 2012 as our receptionist, however, since January 2017 has now taken on a more ‘behind the scenes’ role as our practice manager. Jess has a BSc (Hons) in animal behaviour and welfare and is currently enjoying a different role within the practice. Outside of work she enjoys going to gigs and spending time with her two Jack Russell Terriers, Buzz and Bo.
Receptionist at Burghfield
After working for five years with livestock doing farm work, Helen decided she needed a break from the outdoors, but not from animals! As the receptionist at Burghfield Vets, you have probably met her already. Helen thrives in this fast paced animal friendly job and loves greeting and booking in your pets at the front desk. Her animal family has just begun, having adopted a rescue Guinea pig called G-Unit, but she hoping to make it more lively (in a bouncier, waggier way) very soon.
Receptionist at Goring
Lorraine joined the practice in 2012 and lives locally with her partner. At home they have two donkeys and a rescue cat who, went home from the surgery with Lorraine to be fostered and became a permanent resident! They also have a working Cocker Spaniel, called Freya, who goes to work with her and sits behind the reception desk supervising everyone.
Laura joined the teams at Burghfield and Goring in December 2018. Having worked with animals for over seven years she has gained experience in a variety of settings. Caring for animals is a life-long dream and as receptionist at the practices Laura is given the opportunity to interact with so many wonderful individuals. Outside of work Laura enjoys volunteering at Corvid Dawn wild bird rescue, reading books, long walks in the woods and listening to music.
